You've mastered the basics of Adobe Photoshop CS4. Now it's time to dig a little deeper. Learn more about image preparation, editing and creation in a pixel-based environment. Review image resources and the basic Photoshop tools, then learn more about brushes, layers, filters, photo filters and the History palette, as well as how to add type to images and create special type effects.

Lesson 1: Learn to use Photoshop brushes

In this lesson, you'll review image resources and some of the basic Photoshop tools. Next, you'll explore brushes and their functions. You'll also learn how to use different brushes and set brush options to create a wide variety of effects.

Lesson 2: Layer and filter basics

In this lesson, you'll explore the Layers palette, use layers to organize and manage image elements, create new layers and explore the blending modes. You'll apply filter effects to enhance a layer, and correct color with an adjustment layer.

Lesson 3: The History palette and History brushes

In this lesson, you'll learn about the History palette and how to make a snapshot of a history state. You'll also learn how to use the History Brush tool and the Art History Brush tool to revert parts of an image to a prior state.

Lesson 4: Adding type to images

In this lesson, you'll learn how to add and edit type in an image. You'll also learn some special creative techniques you can use with type, such as how to fill type with an image, add a drop shadow and use styles.
