Revisiting Glogster

1 to 5 of 5

Jun. 29

I love "digital poster boards"...especially Prezi (prezi.com). But I am revisiting Glogster. They have an education section that is awesome. Check out http://www.glogster.com/edu/.

When I tried Glogster a while back, it seemed like all the backgrounds were, as the kids would say, "emo". The designs had lots of black and bizarre graphics. I decided not to use it.

Now, things have changed and it is really a great classroom tool. Excellent graphics and endless possibilities. The next time your students make a poster board presentation...use glogster instead.

Give it a try here:

I used glogster.edu for the first time this spring as a way for the kids to demonstrate their understanding of Romeo and Juliet.
They had to create a synopsis of an act using music and images from a 20th century decade. I've attached a couple of the best of these...
This project is the only one I can remember where one of the students emailed me just to tell me that it was "cool" and thanking me for assigning the project. 'Nuff said.

This is a perfect example of educational technology used as a tool for teaching...great job and thanks for sharing! If you don't mind, I want to share your lesson with colleagues.

Thanks,
Mark

I'm happy to share!
One of our science teachers had the kids use glogster to present a science process (it was sufficiently icky to thrill the kids - something like digestive system or such) so I know that this tool can be used in many content areas.

The ickier the better!

I also use Prezi.com as a digital poster. It has a very different "feel" but is also an excellent tool. It doesn't have the library of graphics, though. It is great for mind-mapping, Venn digrams, etc. The zoom in feature is great...
