Good morning....
One of the first things I do each year in language arts is to discuss the power of names. We review and research the various rites of passage involving naming throughout history and cultures; then my students create a graphic design utilizing their given name, nicknames, opinions of their names, preferences if they could choose their names, surnames and etymology of their names. Often the students use programs such as wordle.
It is a fun way to discover their own history and preferences as well as instilling in them the power of names and words alike.

Thanks for the post.

For al alternative...play with http://fotoflexer.com
You could upload a plain background image and then add text (look under the decorate tab). The text options (over on the right)offer hours of entertainment for students to perfect their text.
