Hey guys I thought you might like a look at my family, I've talked about them so much over the years.
Marion came to AR ca 1868 with his parents. His son Clarence died in a flu outbreak ca 1908. Next generation,
my grparents are sitting on the first vehicle owned by anyone in the county.
Newt is my 1/4 - 1/2 Cherokee that I can't prove. Sitting in front of the chimney of the house pictured by itself.
1st: 2nd ggpa Francis Marion Pierson (beard)
2nd: ggpa Clarence Arthur Pierson (beardless)
3rd: House 2nd ggparents Herron originally
4th: gma (nee Herron) & gpa Pierson, w/my dad & uncle (on car, dad standing in front of gpa)
5th: gma is the baby in her mother's lap / h/h of ggrands Newton Manley & Fannie Battles Herron
All taken in Izard Co., AR.
So this is a bit of both sides of my paternal line.

Genia,
Those are great pictures. I'll have to post some sometime. I love old pictures.
I have a lot without names. Have no idea who they are.

My dad inherited all the pictures from his moms house, no-one else in the family wanted them. He's never had them all developed & there are all kinds of undeveloped film. We found pictures of his gmother's 1/2 brother, and dad's youngest brother is the spitten image of him; they both had blond hair, which is a rarity in my family. The car in the above pictures was the 1st vehicle in the county. My gmpa hitched a ride on a wagon to Memphis, TN, bought the car & had the salesman drive him to the edge of town; that's all the driving lessons he had before he drove it home. Don't you bet that was some trip getting back?

I love your pictures, Genia. That's quite a nice haul. That farm house is so charming, it looks very much like the ones my own family has lived in here in Texas. Can you tell us more about it? Where is the house and when was it built?

It was built sometime between 1890 & 1900, in Richwoods twp, Sharp Co., AR. The picture of gma's 'family' was taken in front of the chimney of the old house, between 1905/07. The house belonged to her gparents, and her family moved into it ca 1914 with six additional kids. I'd say 'CROWDED!' They moved in when her gma died, but the house was still occupied/owned by her gmpa until he died in 1924. I don't know if her folks ever moved out of it before they died. In fact I doubt they did. They found my ggma dead by the woodstove, in March 1961. She had fallen asleep in her rocking chair, and just never woke up. There had been a big snowstorm, and one of her sons had gone to check up on her. They thought she'd been gone about 3-4 days, but it was so cold, they really couldn't tell.
That's more info than you wanted to know isn't it?

I contacted a Nixon cousin about pictures of her grandparents. Her grandfather was a brother to my grandmother. She sent me a picture of her grandparents, one of her parents, one of her granparents and their children and one of her Dad and his siblings. I was so excited. There's one brother left. He's hard to find info on. I have early pictures of him but none after he married. I'm still looking.
I love old pictures too. They're so interesting.

My brother was saying someone had put a cousin's info on ANC, (w/o permission),& he wanted me to check it out. Shoot, so many researchers put info on this particular surname, I wouldn't know who was the culprit. BUT, I found a few researchers who had put pictures of collateral relatives on there, dozens of them, that I would never have seen if he hadn't of asked me to take a peek. It was like finding a gold mine when I was looking for a mud puddle. I'm in love!

Great!!!
It's so exciting to find things like that. I haven't had a lot of time to work on things for awhile. But I'm about ready to get started again. I'm going to join ancestry again. Maybe after Christmas.

My 2nd ggmother, Sarah C. Mullinax, is a complete mystery. No parents, no siblings, family lore that she was Cherokee. While I was hunting for my brother, I found a 'Mullinix' researcher that has her down as Sarah A. Mullinax, and names her parents & siblings. I put out a contact note, asking if he had documentation backing up that information, & if he did, he'd be set upon by an avalanche of Deal/Mullinax researchers. Some have spent almost 40 years searching for members of her family.
