How do I ask a question about a course?

Your moderator will be happy to answer your questions regarding topics covered in courses. Please post your question to the discussion forum so that the moderator can respond. To access the discussion forums:

  1. Click Discussions in the right navigation.
  2. Search the forums to see if someone has already posted a question similar to yours.
  3. If not, click Post new topic to ask your question.
  4. Simply fill in the appropriate fields and attach a file if you'd like.
  5. Click Preview to preview your post.
  6. Once you're satisfied with your post, click Post.
  7. Your message will post in the discussion forum for your moderator and fellow students to review.

What are the different parts of a course?

Each Teacher Experience Exchange online course uses a combination of the following components to help you learn about a topic:

  • Lessons: A collection of two to six lessons that discuss the course topic
  • Assignments: Optional exercises that help you apply the concepts discussed in the lessons
  • Quizzes: Optional short quizzes to help you check your understanding of the material that you just covered in the lesson

You can access all of these course components after you enroll in the course.

How do I learn more about a specific course?

A course's Overview page includes the key information about a specific course, including a course description, a list of lessons and related materials.

What is in the lessons?

All course lessons consist of multiple pages that cover different aspects of the course topic. Click Next page and Previous page at the bottom of each lesson page to navigate through the lesson.

Most lessons include assignments and quizzes that are designed to enhance your learning experience. Use the assignments to apply what you've learned. Quizzes help you check your understanding of the material that you just covered in the lesson. We interactively score your quiz so you can discover, in real time, which concepts you understood and which concepts you might want to review.

How do I access my lessons?

You can only access lessons for courses in which you are enrolled. To access lessons:

  1. Click My courses in the right navigation.
  2. Click the title of the course for the lessons you want to access.
  3. On the Overview page you can review a complete list of the course lessons, assignments and quizzes.

How do I obtain a certificate of completion?

To obtain a certificate of completion, you must view all lesson pages. When you're finished with the last lesson of the course, the certificate will be available on your My courses page. Next to the appropriate course, click Download your certificate (PDF). Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to view the certificate.

How do I print the class lessons?

To print your class lessons, navigate to the lesson and page (or pages--click View all if you want to print them all at once) you want to print. Click the Print this page link in the lower-left of the screen. Use your browser/printer options to print as needed. Note: Colored page breaks and highlighted backgrounds may not print.

How do I change the avatar associated with my user name?

The avatar is the picture associated with your user name and appears on your public profile as well as on your posts to the discussion forums. To edit your avatar:

  1. Click My profile in the right navigation pane.
  2. Click Edit avatar under the picture at the top of your profile page.
  3. On the Avatar page, click the Browse button.
  4. In the Choose file dialog box (dialog box may be called something different depending on your browser), browse to the location on your computer that stores the avatar you would like to use, select the file then click Open.
  5. Click Upload on the avatar page.

What are the user badges associated with my user name?

User badges are applied to your profile automatically as other users on the site rate your discussion forum posts. If other users find your posts innovative, valuable or tech savvy, those attributes are associated with your user name and appear on your public profile.

How do I tag a post on the discussion forums?

You can tag posts as innovative, valuable or tech savvy on the discussion forums. When viewing a topic, the bottom of each post will ask, Was this post: and provide buttons. Simply click innovative, valuable or tech savvy to share what you thought of the post. Tagging posts lets you express your opinion as well as help others who may be browsing the forum for the first time.
